3406E Cat engine. The accelerator sticks.I have installed a new pedal so I know that isn't the problem. It only sticks when the engine is running.Never, ever when it is shut off.It feels like a magnatism is holding the pedal.Once the magnatism is overcome, it works fine, but it causes the truck to lurch each time. Cat says it is the tpi(throttle position indicater). At fifty bucks, I want to be sure that it is the cause. This is in a Ford Aeromax tractor.Any help is certainly appreciated. This thing is driving me nuts!

Had same problem on our 01 Festering Scar (oops western star). No linkage just wires, every now & then it would take off, sometimes you could hit the throttle & mnake her settle down, others it sounded like it it was over rev. it was the sensor. fifty bucks aint bad, I think i ended up paying more.

Those all elect engines are a pain in the a$$ to figure out sometimes, but 50 bucks is cheaper than an accident those areomaxs were funny acting at times but it sounds like that might solve your problem. keep the shiny side up.

You guys go ahead and knock the electronics. While you're at it knock the 10 mpg they're getting with 80,000# loads OTR, Cummins, DD and all.

Mark,

Well said.

The difference in fuel milage will pay many times over for the occasional electronic headaches. If you have electronic problems that your shop can't fix, it's time to find another shop.
I'll take 8-10 MPG any day over 4-6 and laugh all the way to the bank. Especially with fuel costing $2.00 + in some places. (I hope all you guys & gals going over the road have fuel cost in your contracts.)
