I recently purchased a JD 494A planter in very nice shape. Faded paint and missing herbicide boxes is all thats wrong with it. I am curious if anyone knows where to get new decals for this planter, if anyone has those four herbicide boxes, and if anyone knows of a cotton plate that would work with it? I am just starting my collection as I said I would recently. I love tractors and I love having this forum available. Thanks for all the decent people that particiapte on here with the many combined years of experience. Thanks Caleb

Were you able to get it home without too much trouble?

I thought I remembered you posting on the best way to transport them...

Either Jorde Decals (www.jordedecals.com) or K and K (www.kkantiquetractors.com) might have the decals for you, or be able to make them.

The John Deere decal part# is: AB18534 and might still have them, they sometimes do.

Don't know where there are any of those herbicide boxes are, but I'll keep my eyes open.

Thanks Andrew! I printed out everyones suggestions thinking that it was going to be this horrible chore to do and I was dead wrong. The 13 hour drive to get there was a kicker though, we ended up taking the seed cans and pesticide boxes off, folded up the hitch and the units, picked it up with the loader and it fit on my trailer perfectly. All in about 15 minutes. I am going to buy a bigger trailer someday because I dont want to make another long trip being so unsure. This is my first piece of equipment and its in really good shape. All the decals are there but with my plans to repaint it I will need new ones. Thanks for the part numbers I will see if my local dealer has them or can get them. Thanks a lot for your help Andrew. Caleb
