Great news at church this morning. One of our members has returned home from Iraq. He had some harrowing stories to tell, but some very inspiring ones also.

Something I found rather intresting was the responses he received from the Iraqis. They loved him and the other US soldiers! They waved and cheered to them on the streets! They tried to give them gifts of money, food, anything they possessed of value! They were thankful for what Uncle Sam is doing. Not the type of thing you here on CBS News with Dan Blather. (Why do we have so many treasonous cowards in this country?) Ours boys (and women) ARE doing a tremendous job overseas and our leaders are making sound decisions. Let's remember this Nov 2!!!

God Bless all our Service men and women and the leaders of this great country,

Dug

Mr. wdTom,

You have stated the most critical point of all IMO. Thank You!

Last Saturday we buried a 24 year old Marine. He was my wife's relative. He was scheduled to return home on the tenth of October. This was his second tour.
This is a tremendous loss to his family. But he was PROUD to serve and he BELIEVED in what we are doing in Iraq. He had told his parents that the news media was not giving a true picture of what was happening over there. His family would be extremely upset if anyone pointed to his death as meaningless. In the days following the announcement, several news organizations contacted the family in hopes of getting an anit-war, anti-Bush statement from them. When told that they believed in what their son had been doing, some of media hung up on the family. I believe that the proper name for this type of people is GHOULS. They call on a family in thier grief and then try and lead them into a statement that is not true. Then when they don't get the response that they want, they just hang up, or worse, tell the family that their son/daughter was lost for no good reason. It makes my blood boil.
The likes of Dan Rather, Peter Jennings, and thier ilk are shameful. The death of ANY of our troops is a huge loss. Unfortunately, we have to pay a price to maintain our freedom. Part of that price is the lives of some our sons and daughters. During World War Two, we were loosing more service people in a week than we have lost in Iraq and Afganistan all together. If we had kept a count that was repeated daily on the national news, I believe that we would be either speaking German or Japanese today, if our parents had been allowed to live.
Sorry for the long post. We MUST unite in this country. Every anti-war, anti-Bush statement in the press just gives encouragment to the people who would destroy us.
Our troops deserve our total support.

God Bless Them

Britt

The last thing we need is a President who wants to leave our national security up to the UN

Farmerbill,

Couldn't agree more!

Must be lonely in NY considering your viewpoint. But don't despair, you've always got a few good buddies on YT.

wdTom,

I'll pass on your thanks!

There was a line after church with people thanking him for his service. I asked him how it felt and he was beeming, almost crying, when he told me it felt great! He was afraid he would return home to mixed messages.

Somebody had just posted at another board that the troops where being spat on and people trying to knife them. Why do we have so many treasonous cowards in this country? WHO? Whomever is going to beat your candidate.
I think you would have had a nice uplifting story if you hadden turned it political at the end or is that the only reason you posted?

Yeah, I saw that other post you are indicating, it was on the "Official CBS Wesite."

Concerning the treasonous cowards, simply put, anyone trying to covertly or, sadly, overtly undermine the war effort and our soliers on the line would qualify as a treasonous coward, IMHO. Further, anyone trying to influence an election for President by "revealing" documents later found to be forged would qualify treasonous, again IMHO.

And, yes, I spun the political end just to see if someone would get annoyed. Looks like it worked!

PS Latest polls show Dubya up by 5!

It will lonely out there with Dubya come election time. News said people are registering at a record rate this election. They had a bunch of families of the troops on tv protesting the reason of the war. They said you can still be for the troops and against the war a concept you seem to be missing.

Dan,

My guy spent a considerable amount of time in and around Falluja. For a young kid, 20, he has a life time of stories to tell.

Thats good to hear. In regards to why you don"t hear the otherside of the story, simple, It doesn"t sell news papers or make headlines to hear things are going ok (used loosely).

I"m glad to hear that, honestly. My job takes me to a lot of places, including a joint Army Reserve and National Guard installation that"s had at least 5 troop deployments (that I know of), and I hear from members regularly, as well as from others that I know from civilian jobs I"ve encountered.

The general consensus is similiar to that you"ve said. Definately not perfect, soldiers have died, unfortunately. But overall, our soldiers are more accepted, than not, from the Iraqi"s, so I hear from the soldiers. I do not go by (listen to) the media types who"ve never been there, I prefer to hear it from the lips or fingertips (Email) of our men and women that are actually there.

If you ask me, many of our media types and politicians could use a good ol" horse whippin" - if you ask me.

BUT, THAT"S NOT TO SAY THAT IT"S NOT DANGEROUS EITHER. I HEAR THOSE STORIES TOO.
