well, a few dollars anyway.
i am sick and tired of these cheap "work" gloves sold at the local depots and marts. i may as well make a pair of gloves out of paper towels for how long they last. i want a pair of gloves that will last more than two weeks and stand up to moving around shingles and metal roofing. ones that won't get holes in them after tossing a few chunks of rock around or raking some leaves. and none of this split cowhide crap, i want full grain leather with a nice layer of heavy cotton flannel in them so the leather doesn't rub the skin off my hands. where can i get such gloves?

well i went with the Kunz heavy duty lineman's gloves with 4" cuff. for the gloves and two pair of cotton liners and shipping it should be about $50. if i get more than a year out of them i will be very happy (going through many pairs of $5 gloves per year and the hassle of them always getting holes at the wrong time will be worth it). actually, the price was a bit more than i hoped for, but the fact that they actually are made in the US was a somewhat deciding factor.

don't worry, i will make a post after i receive them. if they were worth it (and i expect they should be) i will let the group know.

I recently bought a pair of Kunz "Driver's Gloves". They're made in the US, believe it or not. I think I paid about twenty bucks, which is about what you pay for the imported junk that Wells Lamont and others put their name on now.

The Kunz gloves are well made and fit good, although I haven't used mine enough to know how well they'll hold up.

I found their website, but it doesn't list distributors. It looks like they specialize in lineman's gloves.

I'm only a weekend farmer so I don't wear them out very fast. I've been buying some leather driver gloves with red fleece linings. I get them from George Glove Co in NJ. They guy to contact is Roy Miller, roy@georgeglove.com. I've been paying about $3.75 a pair and I buy them a dozen at a time. That usually lasts me for a couple of years, unless I use them as Christmas gifts to my brothers-in-law, etc.

Stanley makes a great pair of gloves. I've bought them at Home Depot and Ace Hardware stores. I usually lose them before I wear them out, and I wear gloves every day of the week.

I buy unlined cowhide drivers by the dozen for about $5 a pair from Galton in PA. It takes about a pair a month and I wear them all the time. I've been accused of putting on my gloves when I get up in the night to pee.

Andy, There are many places that specialize and sell work gloves for nearly any application. You may try an industrial supply warehouse or distributor. If you dont find exactly what you are looking for, I"m sure someone somewhere will gladly make a custom pair of gloves just for you, if you are willing to pay the price.

Carhardtt sells some good ones. It seems like I paid about $8 for 'em, but they're still hanging in there after TWO years. John

Not quite what you are looking for but my favorite for winter is leather mittens worn over good jersey gloves.
