Was there one engine out of all the different nameplates that was considered the Rolls or Cadillac. Was viewing a tape on steam tractors and they were quite a horse.Dan in AB

We[my family] had two Steam Engines at different times but the one I remember was from the 40's when I was a small Child. I was thrilled when I got to ride on it to the neighbors for the next set up for Threshing. This one was a Case and my Dad said the first one was a Case also.We had Horse's also and I could Harness a Team and Clean Calf Pens And go to the Field and Spread it and I was 9 years old at the time. I had to stand on a Milk Crate to throw the Harness over the Horse's back. Memeories of my Youth. John

For pure visual delight, it's hard to beat that 40-140 Reeves Cross-Compound, pulling a 20 bottom plow! I believe the engine has a dry weight of about 32 ton.

This is the same as asking whether the best tractor is red or green. It's all opinion, everybody likes something different.

Of the steam engines I've run, I like the Geiser Peerless's best of all, some folks like Fricks, I have a friend who thinks Keck-Gonerman is the best.

It's all in who you ask.
