I know most of you live and breathe farming but figure you might recreate from time to time. A motor is a motor anyway, so here goes. I have a 1979 John Deere 340 Trailfire snowmobile that has spark and gas but will not fire. Tried ether in the carb and gas in the cylinders just hoping for a pop but nothing. After pulling a half dozen times it will leak gas from the muffler so it is passing through without going into the cylinders. Had something mentioned to me about "reeds" but am sailing uncharted waters here. I do have manuals on the way but was wondering if anyone has any thoughts. Thanks

Farmer,

The reeds they are reffering to are the reed wafers, which are akin to "valves" in a four stroke.

It does indeed sound as if you have no compression; they were a bit bad about scoring the piston and cylinder walls too.

Far as I can go on this one,

Allan
