Well I got bit by the "antique tractor pull" bug. I was a local tractor pull contest. Well there was a lota green-n-yellow ones, afew allis boys and boys in red and 2 or 3 case guys. I guess I picked a bad spot to sit. There was all this "deere poop" being tossed around.....well I had enough so I spoke of the great american bird. During my farm days there was only one tractor that could carry the eagle!! So I told them that next year I would be back in the seat of a great american tractor!! I put up for sale my "51" T0-30 furgie and my 1949 farmall H w/ a load-all on it.Gota have cash flow for this new adventure! Question is to you case pulling experts what should I be looking for?? I love the 1960's cases the best. I grew-up with a 1959 700 diesel and 1963 530. I got a 630 w/ new tires and motor. so any thoughts or ideas sure would help. Thanks GRM

We have a Case 520 industrial diesel. This tractor spent 30 years on a PTO saw mill.Still has original large rear rubber. This tractor should have a drive train in great shape..[not used much]
It looks very impressive just like it stands. It has rear and left foot throttle. It is also unusual...Id love to see it as a puller.I am asking $3650U.S. for it.Can ship to you for $475
Pictures available.

The first thing to look at is the rule sets for the vsrious local groups that you may pull with. Once the pull bug bitesm hooking a couple of times a year will not be enough. Pay attention to the years, tires sizes (sometimes by weight break), engine modifications, rpm (some times across the board some times a % of stock for the model) and other chanes allowed. Once you do you research it is time to seriously start looking for a tractor and the parts you will need. Another question you will need to answer; do you want to be able to still use the tractor around the farm?

I would recommend a six cylinder model such as a 600, 900, 930/1030 or even a laterodel. If you are not allowed a turbo, I would build a gasoline or propane engine. I would strip iy down as far as you are comfortable with and put it back together light. The older models are puller down in the 5500 pound class in the hot antique classes. I would look for a 504 engine as the base for the build up.

The MOST important things to learn: How to read a track and pick a path. How to place the weights for proper balance. How to drive the tractor on the track.

Hope this helps, we are just scratching the surface so far.

Watch out you don't buy one too new for the antique class or club you want to pull with, sometimes it is 1955 or 1960 that is the cutoff date.
