Can you give me just a rough estimate of cost to haul a Ford 800 series tractor + implements (rear blade, brush hog, rear scoop, drag, disc, plow) from Michigan to north of International Falls, ONT? It's about 820 miles. Just looking for a rough idea, not a quote, to see if this deal is reasonable at all or "out of the question". Thanks again,

I agree with the below posts, they can be "difficult" to say the least, and they don't discriminate. It does matter to them if your Canadian or not. 4 rules for passing customs. Remember its a government agency, so they like paperwork and lots of it. Keep mouth shut, not even small talk. Leave attitude at the door. And take cheque book. Hound

Have you looked at the hauling schedule on this
site? I had a tractor hauled from california to
ohio for $500. (2600 miles)

Find a trucking company in canada close to were your going, would be a good back haul for them and shipping charges may be less if your are lucky

When the time comes, be sure to hire someone who understands the Canadian Customs clearance procedure. They are a worse PITA than US Customs. Oh yeah, they will charge you for the paperwork.

U.S customs is just as much of a PITA, more so actaully, and they charge too for commercial paperwork. Do a little homework before you make rash statements.

I haven't seen anyone under $2 per loaded mile for several years. Bought a combine in Iowa two years ago and it cost about $2.25 to get it home. If you find someone with a back haul you should do better, but one-way is pricey.

I havent been able to touch anything less than $1.95 /loaded mile. Most of my routine haulers are getting $2.10.

The going rate is about $1.25 a "loaded mile". Sounds like you have a trailer FULL. Probably won't get much of a break in price. I don't know what the border crossing will do to increase cost, but it limits who will haul, I'm sure. With that formula, you should be looking at $1025 (or more). John

Indy, I would say you are right in the ballpark with those figures.

Ouch. Well, I have a friend with trailer but that"s a lot to ask unless he"s hauling that way already, and he left his trailer up there with his tractor so he"d have to get it back here. May nix this deal & I"ll have to look closer to my use location. Thanks alot.
