I"m thinking of a tractor for general use on hunting land in Canada. My friends have new Ford/NH tractors but I can"t afford those. Came across this--what do you guys think?

Miscellaneous Articles September 20, 2004 FORD 800 SERIES TRACTOR, NEW MOTOR, BATTERY AND TIRES. PACKAGE INCLUDES:SNOW PLOW, BRUSH HOG, 3. HITCH, DRAG, REAR SCOOP SHOVEL, DISK, 2. BOTTOM PLOW. $3500/BEST

I can also get a trailer with it for $500, I think. Any advice appreciated, thanks.

Are those Canadian or US dollars. If every things usable and not all tore up its a pretty decent price for the package. Look at each individual piece as a separate purchase and see if its any good. An 800 series would bring that price by its self in fair condition.

It is USD. I don't know anything else about it, I'm in mid-Michigan and there are many old tractors for sale around here, never wanted to mess with one but with this new motor/etc. plus attachments sounds useful. It is supposed to be an estate sale. I will check it out as thoroughly as I can, determine what type of 800, etc. Thanks,

I called the (deceased) owners son. It is a Ford 800 series, he doesn't know model or year. Has a pro-rebuilt engine in past year, new battery, new rear tires. Comes with a 3-pt. hitch, rear scoop, snow plow, disk, 2-bottom plow, and brush hog. The brush hog is a rear-mount (maybe that's all they made then?) that he says has heavy rotary blades that will cut big brush real well. His father bought it a year+ ago, had it rebuilt and used it little before passing away. Says he has manuals for it. Been kept in a garage. Pictures look very nice, is supposed to run good & hydraulics & stuff all supposed to work. Don't know tranny but hoping not the dreaded one. Asking $3500 USD OBO. Also has a trailer, twin axle, new oak bed, new tires, 20' by wide enough to haul cars with, I imagine he used it to haul the tractor but not sure. Asking $500 for that. From what I can gather, not bad prices if in order and I'll try to bargain as I'm new to tractor land.

I'm going to look at it tomorrow with a guy who knows/owns old tractors, that should help. If I buy it I've then got to figure out how to haul it 800 miles to camp, this will more than max my truck out with the implements! I'll cross that bridge when I come to it.
