i have a 1943 jd b it has a war frame under it cast iron full belly pan i was wondering just how rare it is ive looked at a lot of tractors only seen 3 including this one one was in a junck yard with a broken frame.any input will be apreciated thanks brian

There was a nice 1943 JD B at the tractor show in Westminster MD two weeks ago.

Unrestored and really original.

johhdeereman - According to my information, there were about 9441 John Deere B's made in 1943. (The first serial number in '43 was 143,420 and the last for the year was 152,862.)

Some sources may differ slightly.

Of all 18 years that the B was produced (1935 to 1952 inclusive) the 1943 year had the fewest made of all. So from a relitive total year of production standpoint, yours was the "rarest" of the John Deere B's.

WWII was really roaring at that time, and most of the manufactures were focusing on the war effort. Steel was a hot commodity, and I suspect most was going to armorments.

You should get some good additional information or corrections from others on this board, and on the JD board if you post there.
