Talked to Kevin today. His family and he are OK. They have no electricty, phone, water or gas. Had to travel north to get diesel for generator to power him and neighbor. Large limb from large oak tree came through roof and ceiling in sons bedroom. Said he would post pictures when he got power back. All prayers were answered. Everett

A friend of mine is a civil engineer, and was on the east coast when Andrew hit in 1992, and was also in the cross fire of Charley and Francis last month.

He just got back from helping in the panhandle with the aftermath of Ivan. Said that in his opinion the damage to the infrastructure (water/elec/roads/bridges) was worse than the prior big three hurricanes.

I'm adjacent to Charlotte County that got nailed with Charley. Florida Power and Light, with tremendous help from power companies from many northern states, got the majority of the power up in just a couple of weeks. They had over 5000 workers rebuilding the power grid, and did a fantastic job.

From the sound of it, re-building the panhandle power might take a bit longer.

A friend of my wife lives in the Pensacola area and they rode it out OK. They lost an old shed and a carport but the house is OK. No gas, water or elct. So they are in their travel trailer and showering at a neighbors who has a lpg water heater. Gonna take a while to get everything up and running again though.
