Does anyone have a set of rules for running a tractor slow race? What is the standard distance?
I've never seen one of these races, just heard of them, we want to put one on. Do they allow the use of Torque Amplifiers, over/unders and powershifts?

SLOW RACE
Length of track 50 feet and width is as wide as you can. Run as many tractors as you can at one time. The slowest tractor to cross the finish line wins. If you have run more than 1 race, slowest 3 tractors advance. Run another round if needed, and advance that top 3 for championship slow race with first 3 slowest tractors.
General Rules for Slow Race: 1) Leave starting line at same time of all other tractors. 2)Run on all cylinders. 3) No clutch slipping 4) No brake riding. 5) Keep decompression releases closed. 6) All tractors must go forward.

Jeff:
I have particapated in slow races at severall shows in Indiana. The rules differ for each place. Some places you can do any thing that can be done from the drivers seat. Such as choke , ride the brakes and clutch, shut down the fuel on diesels, Shift pto in and out if you can shift on the go. One thing you can not do is stop and shift gears. Once your wheels stop you are out of the race. One place I ran you did not even have to cross the finish line as long as your competitor was already across. Others you are limited. The distance varys depending on the amount of room you have. Anywhere from 50 to 150 feet. The greater distance you have the better chance you have of some not making it all the way. I have seen some get right to the finish line and kill the engine. Once you set your rules stick to them. You might even get some small foreign tractors with a very slow creeper gear in them . They and crawlers should not be allowed in farm tractor classes. And the other thing I think a tractor should have to cross the finish line in order to be declared the winner. I have seen to many die right at the finish line.

Thanks for all the great pointers Dale. I think we will try to come up with a set of rules that will make it as fair as possible. I think we will probably limit it to tractors 30 years and older and exclude creeper drives and hydrostatic drives.

That's a great tractor Jim, the problem with him in a slow race is that 2 days later, you would still be waiting for the Ford to cross the finish line! Thanks!

You'll probably want to ban this tractor...or just hand him the trophy now!
