Just got a Home Comfort CB cook stove at the neighbor"s auction. Does anybody know if there is some kind of paint out there that could be used to touch up the enamel on these old stoves? Thanks

Since you have an enamel stove, you might try the appliance touch-up paint that Home Depot sells (comes in small bottles that resemble "White-out" with an applicator brush - $3). Today"s stoves have an enamel finish, too. For the cast iron stoves, stove black/polish is still available like Fred stated. My stove has a little rust inside the warming cupboard: I"m going to try the black, high-temp paint after I attack the surface with some fine steel wool.

Jeff, In a word; no. However, they do have high heat (1200-1500 degree's) spray paint in various colors. I use black on tractor manifolds and protruding mufflers. And have used other decorator colors on various wood stoves with success. Bryant's Stove Works in Thorndike, Maine can help. Good Luck, Jared

You might want to do a google search for cookstoves or something of that nature. There are people who collect and restore those old stoves. There would have to be someplace where touch up paint is available. Just curious, are you going to be using the stove?

Yep, I plan on using it. I"m probably not as old as most of you guys (25), but I grew up using a Home Comfort cook stove and my wife-to-be grew up using an old Dockash. Not only do they help out with the heat bill, but you just can"t beat bacon, eggs, and homefries cooked over a wood fire on a cold January morning when you"re up to your nose in snow. It just tastes better, don"t ask me why. Kinda like using an old tractor. I can plow all day with the Ford 5000 and 4 bottom plows and its just work. But when I spend an hour plowing the garden with my "28 Farmall and 2 bottom trailer plows, it really feels like I accomplished something.

I was kinda hoping you would say that, been several years since I heated my house with a wood stove and I miss it. Even cooked several meals on it when the power went out.
