needing a loader that will lift over 13 ft high and want to put it on a Farmall 560 and want to lift 4X4X8 big bales to the 4th tier to stack them. I have a loader that will go 3 high now but really need 2 one in the field to load them on a trailer and another at pileing site. I have ran loaders for years and do realize that 2000 lbs is heavier than hell. Some guys lift 2 bales with 4440's but I just want to lift 1. A F11 will go 17 ft high and mounts on the rear axle for strength.

Mornin'

Yesterday, the wife and I went roamin' over into Wyoming looking at some dirt.

Anyway, we noticed on the way over there that a lot of the guys are stacking those big squares 6 high.

Pretty impressive pile of hay and makes for a very neat and compact stack too.

I agree with these guys but i would go one step further and look for an F-25. They were longer and wider by a foot and built heavier overall. they also get rid of the dangerious cables of the f-10. I've watched my brother in law lift an F-20 farmall off a trailer with an f-10 on a WC allis chalmers! That's about 4500 lbs! also the F-25 should also have full lenght mounts that run clear up to the frame of the tractor where the brace arms mount. I also know where one is at a dealer in Mitchell SD if you are intereted and not too far away.

Mornin' Randy,

While I certainly agree with you about the F-25 being a better version of the beast, I'm wondering about the size of the thing.

If he is mounting to an old 560, would the tail kinda be a waggin' the dog, so to speak? 'Course, if it was designed as the F-10 was, it probably came in three diffferent widths as well.

Also, and just as a side note, I think the F-10's cable should be replaced about every 10 years or less, just to be on the safe side.

I've never heard of anyone ever getting hurt with the things, but they always seem to break right when you are the busiest and need them the most.

:>)

Top of the day,

Allan

I have about come to the conclusion to go to a used hough or case W14 or ?? loader. I really like my 560 and run a lift pump with it to irrigate some fields with gated pipe and it has nearly 20,000 hours on it now. Dad purchased it new and it is still pretty good for the duty it has seen.
I presently have a loadstar 1700 truck (mid 60's) turned around and it has a Case 72L loader mounted on it and it will only stack bales 3 high but since I have no shed and want to tarp all good hay 4 high would be cheaper to tarp and more expensive to get out of the hospital if you fell off.
The old truck works good. I want to find a automatic trans to put on the engine and move the 4 speed towards the diff. and run it in 2nd gear for better preformance and easier shifting. I also plan to install power steering powerd from the hyd system as it already has a gresen 15gpm pump mounted to the front of the engine. It is really a crude looking creature but works pretty good. I can stack 25 bales per hour with it on 3 gallons of gas.
I want to keep the old loadstar loader since it is gas powerd to use in the dead of winter if it is really cold when someone comes out wanting to purchse 1 to 10 bales to keep from having to start a big diesel or even the 560 diesel which starts hard when cold.
If anyone would like a picture of my loadstar loaderlet me know and I will post one

Hi Hagan,

I've used a F-11 mounted on a 656 to handle 1500 to 1800 lb brome grass bales, but like Cowman says....it made me very, very nervous.

You are gonna think this is a really dumb suggestion, but what about a good old fashioned, boxed F-10?

You could darned near lift the whole silly semi to 27' with one of those (well, not quite) and it would strap right on that 560 like a sock on a rooster.

I think those F-10s are one he!! of a loader if they are trussed up correctly.

You might be right. I know that the harder a loader is to mount it usually is stronger up to a certain point. I have only seen one tractor broken in half with a F10 and that was a old 70 oliver. I have seen a few pictures of newer tractors broken in half with quick mount loaders that mount to the side frame next to the engine and no rear axle mounts. I would only be lifting 1 bale from 1600 to 2200 pounds and not hardly any traveleing. I have a tool bar made up to stab and carry a bale on the rear for counterbalance weight.
Thank you for your idea. One thing a good F10 is a heck of a lot cheaper if a person can find one with the right mounts.

I would bet a guy can still get the mounts from the company right down here in Colorado. I think, if I'm not mistaken, that they are now owned by AGCO.

Trouble is, that big mount has still got to be trussed up to the front of the tractor. I always ran at least a 3/4" truss rod and cinch eye from the box mount under the rear axle up to a plate where the braces come down from the upper rear corners and where they bolt to the tractor's frame rails.

That way, the "acquired load" is placed across the entire tractor instead of just placing it square in the tractor’s center point. Not pretty when they split.

Another thing about the F-10 is that they can develop a somewhat annoying and dangerous sideways "sway".

I countered this by running some braces made of 3/8 X 2" flat iron, about 25 to 30" long, across the upper corners. Angled from the upper arms over to and bolted to that large rear upper cross member. Just makes 'em "stout" for heavy work just as you are planning.

I dunno, I'd sure think about one of these guys; they were made for heavy work and if a guy can get past the mental block of the tractor being "inside" the loader, they make for a very handy and durable workhorse. Plus, as an added feature, they have that sweet "all in one" rotating hydraulic control valve.

I think it is just what you need for those heavy guys you are working with.

Hope ya get 'er figured out.

Allan

the F-11 was advertised to lift 3500 pounds. Your bales weigh 2000? I would not want that much weight very high in the air on a 560. I handle round bales weighing 1200 with my F-11 on an M at full lift though. At least I used to before I got the Hydro.
