Tim and other Floridians,

Just visited this site and got the current low down on Hurricane Frances. Seems it has passed over several islands and no one has reported a storm surge and minimal damage; considering people were prepared for the worst. Power is being restored rapidly as is internet service. Great info and great pics of a huge storm.

I am truly grateful for all the information shared on this board about Francis. My son is in Jacksonville, and I own property in Largo. All the info, first hand, is greatly appreciated.

We're in the panhandle so we should be OK unless she decides to head west and cross over into the Gulf. Then the storm can rebuild and do more damage wherever it decides to land. In-laws live on the Gulf side south of Tampa so they should be OK. Last report I heard was late Thursday night and the central pressure was increasing and it's travel speed was slowing down. That means it's weakening but it will still pack a strong punch wherever it lands. Our local power company crews are already packing up and loading their trucks to head south to help restore power after the storm passes through. Pray for the folks in the path and the emergency crews that have to respond...

Thanks Mark,
I was just sitting here looking at it on the hurricane center site. It is a scary looking beast. This state is in for a heck of a blow. It is a very eerie wait to see what is going to happen. Hope it goes a different direction but dont wish it on your brother either.
I am here on the west coast in the Tampa area so I know we are in for alot of rain but hopefully those winds will be down time it gets here. But as Charley proved, you dont know what they are going to do. So everyone keep the people of the state of Florida in your prayers. Looks like alot of the areas that are recovering from Charley are going to get nailed again.
