I am looking at buying a pull-type snowblower. It is in working condition and is $300. Is this a good deal and how effective is a pull-type snowblower, since you have to drive through the snow before it gets blown. Also, without a live PTO does is a pull-type snowblower practical? I have a long driveway and will not be doing a lot of stopping and starting, so will it work?

Thank you!

Patrick

A pull type snow blower was a good idea. Too bad they DO NOT WORK. Scout around and find a narrow two stage unit and you will never regret the purchase. Around here we hurl the snow back from the lanes and roads with a blower. A snowbank pushed up next the roadway just causes it to drift in faster.

No it won't. If you want to spend $300 buy a used box blade. More effective and far less hassle. You just have to learn to drive backwards. I live in snow country and nobody uses blowers. Us farmers use tractors with loaders and box blades, the county uses road graders with snow wings, the state uses tri-axle dump trucks with blades.

Depends on the size of the blower & the size of the tractor.

Without live pto, blowing snow is just plain difficult. Driving forward you may have a better selection of a _very_ slow forward gear which will help you. But if you have a 3 speed N - well, good luck.
