Tractor had gas leaking out of breather hose. I bought a kit and overhauled it. Worked good till it sat for about and hour and started leaking again. Removed and checked everything and lowered the float level. Worked good for a while and then started leaking again. The solenoid has been disconnected. Could this be causing the problem? Thanks for any info or help.

Today I took out the fitting going into the carb and it had a screen on it. It had something that looked like hair sticking out of it. Installed new fitting and so far its working. Didn't think about that fitting having a screen on it. Learn something new all the time.

I have a 2444/444 and so does a friend. Both have the shutoff solenoid disconnected and neither one eak gas. Don't think that is the problem. Bad float, binding float, maybe trash in the gas catching in the float valve ?

You may want to check your float for a pin hole leak
