The battery cable shorted out on my 285 MF and melted the throddle linkage and the fuel shut off cable. Those items have been repaired but the problem I'm having is the tractor won't start. I'm getting fuel to the pump but not to the injectors. Did something fry in the pump? I have blead all the lines from the pump to the injectors and only a small amount of fuel is getting to the injectors. Not enough for it to idle. The pump is getting plenty fuel to it.

Thanks Tim,Marlowe, and Tommy for your input. I checked the fuel shut off in every position and still no fuel got to the injectors. As for bleeding, I'm getting plenty fuel through the pump, but none through any of the injector lines. Tom I think you hit the nail on the head. A local tractor machanic agreed and gave me the name of a place that could repair it. Thank you all for your help.

This may be obvious but when you put the new fuelshut off cable on did you get it on with the proper adjustment. If it is not turning on all the way....

Bob,

Kinda" hope I"m wrong on this one but if the positive battery cable shorted to ground on those items, chances are a great deal of current was run through the injection pump. It would not take much current to damage the cam ring inside the pump and ruin it. However it may have only damaged the linkage in the top of the pump; I am assuming its a Lucas/CAV pump. Wish I could help more but it sounds like the pump has been damaged to some degree.

Tommy
