I'm looking for liability insurance for a one day parade and hay ride for September 11. Anyone have any contacts with insurance companies that would provide this type of coverage? Thanks,
John Karshner
Jacksonville, FL

Depending on what state you live in, this company provides liability and comp coverage for your antique tractor. On my 46 Farmall H, the premiums run $57 per year. The only drawback is that they only write insurance in a handful of states. Punch below for their web site. HTH Larry

As long as you do not do it for hire (collect a fee) homeowners covers it.At least according to my agent.I drive a team and was concerned about liability issues. So covered as long as no money changes hands.

In addition to your homeowners carrier, inquire at a local antique tractor club. While I show/parade/pull hayrides, etc with Farmall tractors, I belong to the local 2 cylinder club. Members there got me in touch with a company that offers liability insurance under it's "antique tractor" program.

As Kurt suggests there's FAR too many greedy people out there - and money-grubbing lawyers ready to accommodate them. They're all looking for any opportunity to separate you from your $$$. You are therefore wise to carry liability insurance on your old iron!

Kurt,
You are so right. I checked with my insurance company and they will not provide insurance under the home owner's or auto policy. What insurance provided was recommended to you. If you can provide a name and phone number that would be great. If they can't issue coverage, they may be able to recommend an agency here in Florida.
Thanks,
John

Call your provider of home and auto insurance. I would recommend getting insurance for parade and hayrides, Too many lawyers out there ready to sue anybody for anything.
