I have a good neighbor that has recently past away and his wife would like to sell a tractor they have had for a long time. I am thinking of buying it, but I need some help on the specifics. My neighbor thinks the tractor is a 1960 model 36 hp. I went over and looked at it no marking on shell except for the IH on the front. Motor is a gas 4 cylinder, markings C 135, firing sequence 1,3,4,2 & other number 107064. Has three point, dual hydraulics, new tires, small dual rear tires, wide front end. Could anyone lead me in the right direction to find out more about this tractor. Thanks for your help.

Somewhere on the tractor, generally on a plate rivoted to a frame member such as the clutch bell housing, there is an ID tag which has a model & serial number on it. Take a good flashlight, a few rags, and go search for this. With these numbers you can positively id everything you want to know about the tractor, often down to the day it was made.

Without them, we will just be guessing.

Nearly all farm machinery has these id plates, and it is real important to have these numbers when you are buying or ordering parts.

Sounds like it might be a IH 340.

Sounds like it is a Farmall IH, go to the Farmall IH forum they could give more info there.
