Our normal first frost date is 9/15. It's 32F and light frost right now. Seems fitting for Friday, the 13th, but not in August!

In case you're wondering, I'm near Duluth, MN.

Got down to 41F in cent ILL last night and people were crying at state fair parade last night. At this rate ducks will be in Mississippi before season opens

I think that the record setting corn and soybean crops some were talking about two or three weeks ago absorbed all the sun's energy and now there's no heat left.

Well guys any cool weather you can send us is a welcome site to us in August. Sure beats 99° and 70% humidity.

We are at 64° for a low this morning. I think they said on the TV last night that our all time record low for the month of August is 60° We may get real close to that tonight.

John, It's supposed to get down to 48 here tonight. Our high tomorrow is supposed to be 68. I really don't remember another summer this cool for up here. You have to be careful how you say that though. there are some that are mighty thin skinned. Lol. I'd gladly trade some of this cool for some of your southern heat right now.

Set several records for lowest max temperatures in the last couple days here in central & west Michigan. Nearly had frosts over night too.

Somebody always shows their stupidity by making statements like yours. What the hell does a "fruitcake" have to do with global warming?

There"s a myth that there were only 100 fruit cakes ever made in all of history; and they just keep getting gifted along each holiday season. In the same way global warming is very possibly a myth that is passed along from one fool to another. So I think the comment was very appropriate.

In my heart of hearts, I suspect that global warming is just another reason the elite few will use to limit the liberty and confiscate the property of the industrious masses -- pass the proceedes along to non-industrious masses -- having skimmed off a great deal to line the pockets of the power elite in the process.

Thank you Steve, personally, I didn't see anything wrong in my post. Twenty or so years or so ago many of these same "scientists" who now claim global warming as fact, then claimed we were in danger of another ice age. I like you believe it is all a farce, but then I also believ the whole freon thing was a farce too.

One of my favorite cartoons shows several warmly dressed people in a circle, barely visible through the blowing snow, spraying aerosol cans skyward. The caption says, "6 hearty citizens of Chilblain, North Dakota do what they can to help global warming along." [And I make no apologies to my politically correct friends.]

Obviously both you and Steve missed the point of my post. I was actually referring to your use of the word "fruitcake", not the global warming issue. The global warming issue is indeed one which a lot of people debate, however those who think it is a scam probably argue that motor vehicles don't affect our atmosphere to any degree. That issue won't be decided here, but I am still wondering why you refer to those who have beliefs (that I truly think will ensure the longevity of our planet for our great grandchildren to enjoy) that are different to yours as "fruitcakes"? Is it really fair to label someone in that way just because they look, act, think, dress, or behave in a different way than you do? C'mon, I think most of us would have trashed that kind of thinking years ago.

The more you post the more I shake my head. Obviously our education system didn't do a very good job with your reading comprehension. Somehow what others say seems to hit a block of wood up there somewhere. Guess you just don't get it.

Obviously, YOU are the one who doesn't get it and have missed the whole point. It seems that everyone else did get it and you didn't. Your loss, not the education system. As to shaking your head have you figgured out where that rattle is coming from?

Maybe we missed the point "Just Asking" was trying to make. A perfectly good food is being put in a bad light by causing it to be associated with an undesirable people group. That is definitely not fair to that food. Other foods now are likely to tease and otherwise offend it.

HEhe! I guess you are right. I have no taste for either the group or the food. I guess that's why I associate them together. I'll try harder not to offend any food groups in the future by associating them with "nincompoops". There how's that?

So far, this is the 4th coldest summer on record here in Kansas City. Moving up the list every day, though, and with the forecast the way it is we may well make it to the #1 spot.

Meanwhile, in the rainy Pacific Northwest, its been one of the warmest and driest on record- maybe 2 tenths of an inch of rain since mid June, and temps in the high 80's/ low 90's just about every day. Go figure.

Well you guys up there. When I saw the plunging neckline of a Canadian front sticking into N. Texas in the middle of August I said, double the firewood this year; gonna need it.

But I have enjoyed the cool weather.

Your right Ron, it's a bit early for that kind of weather, but up here in Canada we can expect that type of thing but it is sure unlike what it should be down your way. You are not that far from us but it could be the Great Lakes influence. We have had temps down to about 35F but it probebly wont be long now. We live east of Toronto in the great Ontario farm land. Later Walter.

I thought Toronto/The Golden Horse Shoe which extends from Niagra to Port Hope and from Lakes Erie & Ontario north to Lindsay, Peterbourgh,Guelph, Kitchener & Brampford. Has been built on 1/2 of Canada's Class I farm land. The wheat is off and the mixed grain is just finishing up.
