If you didn't see the picture of the tank from the war with the barrel opened up on the end,from something gone wrong. you missed something. Now it is gone. This is not tractor related, but pictures like this are very interesting. Our military is doing a good job fighting these idiots.Lets support them with a picturte now and then.

I have to agree to a point about "off topic posts". Like some of the other replys have stated what is of interest to one may not be of interest to others, and omething like a pic of somebody's 4 wheeler stuck while they were out playing would probably be innapropriate for the board. What I can't understand is why a picture of a tank in trouble would be removed from a tractor related site. What is a tractor, other than a mechanical device used to do work for us, be it a wheeled version or a tracked version. One of the uses for the surplus Jeeps from WW2 was on farms where they were used in all sorts of "tractor related" roles. Would a Jeep pulling a plow be tractor related???? By the same token all a tank is is the military's version of a track type tractor. I guess if it had shown one of the tank varients set up with a rome plow like they used in Vietnam it may have been more a crawler tractor than one with just a gun. Or possibly one that was set up as a mobile wrecker/shop pulling the same tank out of the mud it may have been allowed because the wrecker version would have been more "tractor related", not to mention the tank in question would have been both stuck and troubled..... . I really do enjoy this site, but I still think sometimes things are just taken a little too much to the extreme sometimes when it comes to OT posts...Most of the guys I see that frequent this site do a pretty good job of keeping things "on topic" without supervision. I know it has been said before but even though this is a "tractor site" it is still the "front porch" where everybody should be welcome. If somebody has something interesting, once in a while, for all to see then why should they be restricted just because it doesn't appear to some to be "tractor related", or is just not interesting to some. There are some of us out here that are Veterans that might like to see something like this once in a while..... ..Just my .02, for what it's atually worth after taxes.

I agree we must support our military. But I dont agree with people going way off topic. What is the point in going to a gallery to look at certain pictures if you are going to have to weed through a bunch of stuff unrelated. Would it make sense to post a picture of your house in the tractor photos just because you want everyone to see it. Would it make sense to ask for Farmall info on the Fordson message board. You can go to the implement photos and on the first page their is a bicycle morphed with a reel mower. Thats not what I think about when I want to look at implements on the yesterdays tractor web site. Maybe it is just me but I am all for keeping things on topic. If we dont stay on topic then there is absolutely no point in having topics at all. I think there are plenty of those type sites already.

I agree with you to a point. I would rather see a off topic of interest picture now and then, rather than someone posting a toy picture of a tractor on a lawn, or someones 8 N with a dented grill. Like so many people have said in the past a simple click and you are not looking at something you dont want to see. If I dont like what I see I go on to the next.

I see your point. The issue I have is in your statement "I would rather see a off topic of interest picture now and then, rather than someone posting a toy picture of a tractor on a lawn, or someones 8 N with a dented grill" Your statement assumes that what is of interest to you is what everyone else is interested in. So goes the guy with the dented 8n grill. And on and on. It cannot be assumed that what you find interesting is what we need to see. I might find the papers on my desk interesting but that doesnt mean they belong in stuck and troubled, although if you saw my desk you might find it the perfect example. I just would like to keep things on topic so that when I am looking for info I dont have to weed through so much irrelevant stuff. Maybe they should have an "Irrelevant and Off-Topic" section on this web site.

Interesting you should say that Tim (about the "Irrelevant and Off-Topic Gallery"). I just started working on one yesterday. But I"m just calling it the "Community Photo Gallery". I like your name too though!

Anyway, I"ve pretty much got it ready to go but I"m a little worried about bandwidth issues so I"ll put in a few measures to prevent off-site linkage and then get it up and running.

I recognize the need to share "off-topic" photos with one"s on-line community of friends. At the same time after all these years I also see the need to stay "on-topic" where a certain topic exists.

Anyway, hopefully the new "off topic" gallery will help.

Thanks for everyone"s input,
Kim

I'm as guilty as the next guy (gal) posting off topic, but I consider half dozen of the forums on this site populated with my coffee shop buddies. I am reluctant to go elsewhere as they may not be in that coffee shop and I sorta know what to expect from the regulars and want to insure that they are included in my post.

Since we have this great diversity in membership, I guess we will never please everyone....just me. Tee Hee.

I was ignoring this thread as it seemed like it wouldn't interest me....

Good job, Kim. You really keep this place alive & current & interesting. Folks don't realize how much time & effort you put into this place. It's hard to keep a balance that keeps everyone happy, but you seem to get there most of the time.

Thanks,
--->Paul
