I have an early 1970's Gravely 432 Commercial tractor that is leaking fluid from the left rear axle seal. The brake drum is saturated on that side too. When I put the tractor in gear there is slipping (like a transmission slipping). There is only one place to put the fluid and I tried using hydraulic fluid but that did not work. What type of fluid should I be using? Thanks!

80W gear oil. Make sure you empty the hydraulic fluid. The clutch is probably worn out, a major chore to replace. Sometimes slipping is just a loose pressure spring. Try tightening the springs on the actuator bellcranks.
