I have just put my 3ph back on and will soon start it up. How do I go about purging the air out of the system. I assume I should have the cylinders compressed and loosen the hose connection a hair to let the air out. Is this correct? I have a '43 Farmall H that had an add on 3ph that is a dandy, but heavy. Thanks

Just make sure you check the tank after you purge the air as it will likely be low from filling the cylinder.

The other two gentlemen have it right. Cracking lines and the like is nothing more than a good way to make a mess and possibly injure yourself. Fluid injection injuries are not something you want.

Once you start the system, and move the cylinders. the air will push its way out into the oil holding tank and will not be an issue, it is not like bleeding brakes on a car. (at least this is the way it is on industrial machines)

Yes, this is the way it is done, make sure all connections are tight, and then run the cylinder (or cylinders) in and out several times. The air will escape into the reservoir.
