I bought a tractor yesterday. It does not have a two stage clutch. How can I tell the difference between the Ford 600 and the 601. I don't know which one it is.
Thanks Jim

And, your tractor will have a middle number - this will tell you the options it came with, like clutch/tranny setup, pto, etc. 600 & 601 is just a series, your tractor may be a 640 or 620 or ....

By the model # that is stamped on the trans housing just behind the starter.
The serial # under it will tell what year it is.
If it is still painted the correct color the easy way to tell is the hood on a 600 is gray and a 601 is red.
Read THIS because it will explain every thing you need to know about your tractor.
