TEA-20 Compression Issue

I'd like your input on this engine issue. My TEA-20 runs well, but number 1 cylinder is always wet. Compression on a hot engine using scew-in gauge is 85, 103, 104, 105, front to back. Oiling the front cylinder raises compression to about 90. Oil leaks from the cylinder head/crankcase union on the left rear. Head torgue was low, so re-torgued to 65 pounds, still leaks. What do you think?

Thanks

You don't tell us what the other cylinders record with oiling. Looks like a problem with #1. Suggest checking valve clearances, doing a compessed air test on # 1 cylinder (and compare with others) to see where compression is leaking and go from there.
Regarding "#1 cylinder is always wet" , what do you mean? - plug oily, or misfiring? or what.
If you say it still leaks, I believe you. Without knowing the recent engine history, torque accuracy, or guessing what "low" actually means (with regard to head torque), can't be much help Regards, RAB

I didn't oil and test cylinders 2, 3, and 4 because they are very close, the compression is adequate, and on a prior occasion had checked them, with a similiar result. By "wet", I mean the spark plug is, well, wet. for all I know the rest of the cylinder/pistion is too, but hard to see in there. Difficult to tell with what, since the engine doesn't smoke noticeably, or steam, and cylinder doesn't misfire, at least not regularly. Could be gas, if the engine is firing irregularly, possibly due to low comperssion resulting from a valve problem. The head torgue was probably about 45 lbs, hard to be certain; not that it matters, as the cure would appear to be the same regardless, pulling the head, checking the surface for warp, and the valve in question for damage, regarding stem clearance. It would seem the problem is with #1, and valve more than rings, as the oil didn't increase compression noticeably. Thanks for the input, always interesting to hear what others have to say.
