I started to build one, even bought a set of prints. After looking at them and thinking about it I decided to rent a wrapper and see. All the home made wrappers I'm aware of just wrap the sides. Like farmermatt said, makes for a lot of spoilage (I know, the idea is good but most bales arent perfect).

Rented a single bale wrapper and didnt like it at all, plastic cost was too high, system was slow, and if the bales werent perfect they could become projectiles (not fun). Gave up on wrapping. Then I started explorin the inline's. Really like them. It makes selling hay more difficult (I sell it by the tube now). So far well pleased. Units rent here for $2 or so a bale plus plastic, I use a custom operator, he does it for about what it would cost me to rent the unit and buy the 10 rolls of plastic (he makes his money on volume, just got in his 3rd semi load of plastic this year)

Sorry cant help with plans but I do have some experience w/ wrapped bales. Several yrs we wrapped bales, just around the out side, not the ends. They spoiled worse than unwrapped. THe moisture in and around the bales would condense on the plastic and rought a significant amount of hay. If your talkin about completly wrapping ends and all, well thats a different story.
