I have a gravely riding mower which needs a new clutch lining. I have the new lining but need to know how to bond it. I figure that I will also rivet it but it is only about 3/4" wide and 3/8" thick. I figured that it would be stronger if it was also bonded. I condidered using gasket shallac since it seems to hold gaskets forever but that sounds too simple. Help

Thanks

Bonding and riveting is overkill. Rivets are there to hold the lining in place when the clutch is not engaged. The friction of the lining works both ways; once the clutch is engaged, the lining stays put.

Some kind of expoxy may work. I have bonded pulley brake linings on JD 2 cyl. tractors with JB weld before and it worked good but only if the metal part was sandblasted to clean it first.
