I am looking at a 1973 830 that has only 670 hours on it, one owner and in overall great condition. For a 40 hp machine, i think it should do what i need very well. However, i am unfamiliar it and would like to ask if there is any weaknesses with this model, potential troubles or anything inparticular to look for.
I posted this on the deere forum below but not getting any bites and I need to learn something ASAP. Thanks very much.

I have one that I bought new in 1977. It was a 1975 model that had never been sold. I now have close to 7000 hrs on mine and have had very few problems with it. I pull 6 row equipment with mine. I don,t think you are looking at 40 HP. More like 35HP. I HAVE 16.9*24 rear tires filled with fluid and extra weights on the rear and a loader on the front.

They're a good little tractor. Keep additive in the coolant as they are prone to wet sleeve pitting and electrolysis, other than that, a fine little three-cylinder machine, you'll be happy with it..
