I wouldn't take Firestone tires to the dump. For that matter I don't like Titans either. If you are that close spend a little more and buy michelin or Pirelli. I got Firestone 23's on a new tractor. If that ever happeded again, I would refuse the tractor until they put REAL tires on it.

I plan on getting Titans for my antique. The Firestone Field & Road or Traction Field & Road tires are an old and proven design. However, we got a set of Titan tires put on a JD 4955 several years back. That particular tractor is only used for tillage, and I've been very impressed with the traction and durability they've exhibited. They're a little less expensive too.

I have decided to purchase the Firestones. I plan to pull this tractor in a few antique pulls and want a good long bar long bar bias tire. I do realize radials are better but this is a 1963 tractor and I want to keep it as original as possible. I do farm with it also but have 3 newer tractors with AC cabs that are used most but we put nearly 200 hours a year on this 806. I plan to never sell it as it was my first tractor when I started farming

Just how are you going to use tractor? heavy field work radails for sure just for light work cheap bais will do just fine . Have you looked at goodyear, they also make good tires. And how long do you planning on keeping tractor, that also should be a factor. But if thats the only tires I had to chose from I would get the stones

Go with the Firestone's, I've talked to several tire dealers who carry Titan's and they have all said that they are a cheap tire and you get what you pay for. We have six or seven sets of the Firestone radials and have been happy with all of them. We have some with 4,000+ hours on them that still have over half tread.

I run Titan radials on several of my tractors and really like them. Road wear is great, and traction and float is much improved over the bias plys. These are 18.4 x 38 long/short bar radials on my 1655 Oliver, should be close to the same size as your international. I also have some BFG radials and like them too, but never tried any firestones. I am slowly putting radials on all the 50+ Hp tractors on the farm.

Be careful though, the Radials are taller than the bias plys, note my fenders..... .

I guess another reason the fenders are so close is that 18.4x38 is larger than any 38" tire that came standard on 1655. I believe the largest mentioned in the owner's manual is 16.9x38, which in a radial should be more than enough tire for a 70ish HP tractor. I agree that radials are far superior, but he is shopping $250-300 tires and will be in for a $$ shock with the radials everyone seems to be recommending. Another nice thing about radials is that in many applications you can get away from weights and fluid fill.

i'd find some 38 inch rims and mount up some 18.4 x 38 firestone 23 degree radials! make that 806 boogie! but then again, that's what i would do.

i would choose the firestones myself. been in a few spots i was glad to have them.

I agree, get radials at buy least one grade up from Firestones basic bargin radials. Any of the R-1W are excellent in loose soil.
