Can anyone tell me if they know what a super c (special) is?. I purchased a super c this spring and have discovered below the distributor stamped in the block is the word SPECIAL.
I have talked to several IH people and they have never seen one before. thanks for any input.

Terry

This is an interesting question! I will look at the information I have and also ask my brother about it. You might post this over on the Farmall board so more "red eyes" can get a look at this.

HI Terry
I too have a super c (special) I have talked with
a lot of IH dealers in the past years and not one
could tell me anthing about them. Here is what I know. They had a 3 1/4 INCH BORE FROM THE FACTORY
AS COMPARED TO THE 3 1/8 INCH BORE ,the regular
super c had from factory. also I believe that the
cam is the same as the cam from a 340. I talked with one fellow from missouri and one from north carolina that also had the same (special) cast
into the block of their tractors, except the one
from NC. was a super A. BTW. Mine is a 1951 model
What year is yours?. Hope this helps. Luck red340

Hi Luck Red thank you for your imput on the super c special.
This is the only farmall we have on the farm so we dont know to much about them . We have six olivers and farm with all of them.
You might be wondering why we bought a farmall since we like the green machines. Well here is why.
My boys great grandmother and grandfather farmed all of their life in central michigan and great grandma is still livivg at the ripe age of 94 in her own house alone with no help and every spring we go to her house for easter to visit from ohio and she tells us old stories about their life on the farm. She always tells the story about the super c that wasn't a super c. One day they went to look at the tractor and decided to buy it and the dealer was to deliver it a few days later.

When the tractor arrived low amd behold it was a c and not a super c and for two weeks great gran dpa kept saying I got a cat in the bag I got acat in the bag and finnaly grandma told him if he didn't snap out of it she was going down the the tractor dealer and buy a brand new super .
And so that straightened him out because he knew she would do it. So we found a super c and took pictures of it up and showed her .

Thats is why we bought a super c tractor.

PS: by the way they had a super c and a c both so we may just have to buy a c as well.

thank you for your help .

Terry this is just a theory ,but may be that some of the others can tell you more definite about the word "special" on your C . But I under stand that they made a few specials that were painted white as demonstrators.

I don't think the demonstrator tracors had any special stamp on them. I think they were just issued to the dealers painted white.

I'm sure IHC experts will chime in shortly to correct me if I'm wrong...
