Generally there is a phone number to call. they often have a day for look-overs a couple days before the sale. I'd call & see if I could come over sometime to look at it. Most folks are happy to have you over. Just stopping in can be frowned on....

First off I think its great that the FFA has something like this for you to do. I sure wish I would of gottin involed in something like this when I was a little younger. Im 24 now.
Its hard to say what something will go for at a auction. It basically depends on who is there and how bad they want something. There was some good advice on the other posts. One of the first things I look at on a old tractor is the sheet metal. If it is nice and strait that is a big plus. I would sooner do some mechanical work then body work. Plus it seems that when you start buying or repair the tin work or other cosmetic things it becomes more $$$ then the actual mechanics of the tractor. Well,I hope that you get what you want and good luck!

I bought a 400 with good tires & sheet metal that had set outside 6 or 8 years. Paid $625. By the time I got it restored I have $2700 or more in it. Good useful tractor.

Anywhere from $500 for a strictly parts tractor up to $2,500 for a tractor that is ready to go. The price you pay will depend on condition of tires, sheet metal, etc. and will also depend on who is there that might also want the tractor. Way too many variables for any one to put a definate price on it.

I bought one at auction a couple of months ago... runs (but desperately needed tune-up & carb rebuild AND some gaskets replaced to slow some of the oil leaks down) working 3 point & hydraulics, sheet metal fair condition, clutch, trans, etc seem OK, tires need help, but, I've been using her... $1100.00
regards, DL

FIRST OF ALL, MAKE SURE THAT THE TRACTOR IS ALL THERE.SOMETIMES WHEN ONE IS NOT RUNNING, PARTS SEEM TO WALK OFF. THEY CAN BE PARTS THAT ARE EXPENSIVE TO REPLACE. RADIATOR,CARB. MAG., ETC. UNLESS THE TIN IS RUSTED OUT, IT CAN USUALLY BE REPAIRED AND MADE TO LOOK GOOD.IF YOU CAN, CHECK THE DIPSTICK, OR THE OIL DRAIN PLUG FOR SIGNS OF WATER IN THE OIL. IF SO THERE IS A GOOD CHANCE THE BLOCK MAY BE CRACKED.I WOULD SAY IF THE TRACTOR IS IN THE CONDITION YOU SAY, $1000.00 WOULDN,T BE A BAD BUY. ESPECIALLY IF IT IS CLOSE TO YOU. YOU MAY BE ABLE TO BUY ONE CHEAPER, BUT IF IS IS VERY FAR AWAY, YOU MAY BE LOOKING AT A BIG EXPENSE GETTING IT HOME. GOOD LUCK. HOPE YOU GET IT. FRANK
