I have a well used 656D and I don't think you can kill them. My hour meter quit a long time ago so who knows how many hrs it has on it. I pull a 4x16 semi mount, 12' heavy oliver disk, use it to pick corn and it mows and bales all the hay we do. We only have 2 tractors and the other one is a JD 2010. The 656 is the "big" tractor on our 40 or so acers. It looks a little rough, but runs like a top. I paid $5000.00 for it a few years ago in central Pa. They can be a bear to start in cold weather, but if you plug in the heater the night before and keep all of the glow plugs working good, they start right up.

Hi Bob,

You'll see around 58 1/2 horse at the drawbar.

Just my 2 cents worth: If it's a diesel, you shouldn't be looking, you should have bought it by now! LOL

Darned nice tractors; one of the best IH ever put out.

Allan

Boy!,

It's hard to put a price on someone else's deal, but if is a good clean low-houred unit, it could easily pop the $5K mark. But, I've heard stories of fellas getting them bought in the $3K range also.

Guess it all depends on what that loader is worth to you over and above the value of the tractor.

A guy down the road 100 miles from me offered me a 70 Hydro with a Farmhand front-ender for $6K and he would deliver it. Tractor & loader was in perfect shape, but it had 7000 hours on it and I just didn't trust the hydro because a dance through one of those things will easily cost the price of the tractor.

Anyway, hope you get 'er bought. You won't be sorry; because I've never heard a bad word about a 656D and I'm an old guy too!

Well now; I got stuck with a 656 gas and then found out it was about dead. Started to bring it back to life but decided it would cost too much so took it to auction.

I am in the same boat as you. The gas motors are terrible when they start getting worn. Stay away from the gas engines!
