Yeah! Canada Day! Our 20th anniversary, took the Best Girl for supper at Scully's in Midland. Shrimp jambalaya on the patio beside the Bay laughing at the T.O. Yuppies whacking into each other on the Sea-Doos. Floating chainsaws. Get a real boat or stay in the bathtub. Back to cleaning hulless oats tody. What a dusty mess. Hope you Southerners have a good 4th. Best wishes.

Tom

Fireworks, festivities and real northern beer were excellent in Wingham and Kincardine this year. Amazing how every politician is claiming a victory in this week's election? Now we have to listen from about now to July 5th on how the Americans are #1, the biggest, the best etc. I hope they wake up and look over their shoulder and see the Chinese, Japanese and European Economic Union is coming on fast and strong. Going to be a "hare and tortoise" situation if the Americans are not careful.

Now that you Canucks were lame enough to let your fascist government take away all your guns the US will invade and take over Canada without firing a shot. Well, at least we'll have access to good beer and walleyes!

You're probably not aware of it but the US has already taken over our country. Television exposure alone has us being the 51st state. Nothing much we can do about it since big business runs everything everywhere. Politicians just tag along for the ride (and the pensions).

quote: I hope and pray the US even with its faults invades and declares Ontario as "West Vermont".

How about they take Quebec....we promise not to even put up a fight!

While I have mixed feelings for Americans I could not wish them the burden of putting up with some of the Quebec issues. Than again like dealing with spoiled children, if nonsense isn't tolerated the nonsense goes away. OK, have the portion of Quebec that was included at Confederation in 1867, become Western Vermont. And run the remainder of Canada from Alberta. We get to keep the 5% strength beer plus the fresh water.

I know we do not have a pefect system, who does but, I am proud and happy to be a Canadian, and will always welcome our neigbors to visit, but if they invade I will just have to make a big pile of snowballs and head down to old fort Henry.
(tongue in cheak, have friends and family on both sides of the border, besides I cannot clear the St.Lawerence with a snow ball.)

Don't worry guys. We had it once and didn't want it, and besides we can't keep our own ducks in a row. The last thing we need is another country to "free".But we would trade northern Mexico (Texas, Oklahoma, California) for Canada and throw in Puerta Rico as a province for ya, Harley

Had it, as in "occupied Canada" - not likely. More like tried to take it, but failed.

By congressional decree the US tried to "free" colonial subjects from "tyrany" and successfully "captured a couple of out-of-the-way forts" in 1812 then surrendered them (one without as much as a shot fired).

Since British forces were busy dealing with Nepolian, our "Canadian" ancestors can easily take credit for marching on the American capital and torching the president's house ("white-washed" afterward to cover it's charred exterior walls). It seems that those colonial "subjects" didn't want to be "freed", especially the "British Empire Loyalists" who's new found freedom would have included a fair trial followed by a summary execution, had the invasion been succesful.

Please visit any time, but leave all sidearms at the border.
