ok this is no joke. I am sitting in a small laboratory trailer in the middle of the desert with no access to any stores. I have internet and the usual food supplies. I will be here for the next five days. ( I am a geologist at work) The problem is that the flies are driving me crazy! They smell food and right now I have probably 10 or 15 buzzing around my head and I am at my limit. How can I build an emegency fly trap or sticky paper? I am asking this group because I lurk here often and you folks should have some good ideas hopefully. Once again thanks in advance and I will be waiting for your replies.

FLYPAPER UPDATE;
I tried the bottle thingy and it has worked remarkably well. I also made some homemade sticky flypaper out of boiling some syrup and then dipping some computer paper in it and then letting it dry. I also tried the suggestion about dropping my pants but that didn't work so well. If I make it through this torture till Thursday I will go home a better man for the experience! Thanks again all!

Although the posts below are viable and some even humorous, just leave them alone. They are one of God's precious creatures and they have a niche in your little geological environment. After a few days they will become more friendly and less stressful. Leave them some of your food out in the open and they'll have a little family of their own and won't bother you so much. If this doesn't work you could quit your job (but release the flies before heading back to head office). And if that doesn't work, maybe resort to a flyswatter made out of newspaper.

use a plastic pop bottle, put in tuna fish or hamburger and about a cup of water. Cut 3 or 4 holes about 3 inches from the top, the holes have to be at least 1/2 in diameter. the poke a small hole in the lid for a string. Tie any thing on the end of string to keep it from pulling up through the cap,screw the lid on the bottle. Then hang it outside by the string . Flies will go in the holes and cannot get back out, end up drowning in the water. I use this all the time in mountains here in Oregon when either the flies are bad or yellow jackets, you will have lots of fresh meat shortly. HTH

How about putting food in a jar and poking holes in it and stick tap around the jar or can.

I have seen people hang up sanwich bags with water in them in a window. Don't know what it does but they say it works.

On my first day in Vietnam I threw food away flies landed on. On my second day I brushed the flies off and ate the food. On my third day I ate the flies with the food.

My advice, wait 3 days.

I've been told that you could corner them by crapping in a corner and they will all head for it and leave you alone.
