856 engine question

dad was using it in the field when all of the sudden it revved up and then quit. it turns over like it has no compression and all of the pushrods appear to be bent. did the camgear strip or something worse? any help is appreciated.

Brad,I had an 806 that did the same thing.It stripped about half of the teeth off of the cam gear.If you rebuild it yourself be sure to have the head checked forbent valves and cracks,because it cracked the head on my tractor when it bent a valve.Doug
