Implement or 3-rib tires - Farmall 560 with Loader

I just put a new 3-rib 6.00-16 tire on my 560 last fall after putting 16 thorns into the old one while mowing some brush. Yesterday I was over at the neighbors moving manure and "found" a broken metal fencepost with the 6.00-16 on the other side (good thing it wasn't the new one), boy did I lose air fast!

In order to finish (tire store closed) I took a brand-new 15" spare implement wheel/tire from one of my grain wagons (only one I had with right bolt pattern) and threw that on. It was same overall height as the 16" tractor front, but a tad wider.

My question is: I now have to buy one new tire/tube to get a matched set on the 560, should I buy another 16" tractor front (6-ply on there now) or another 15" implement tire (8-ply now). I have a loader on the tractor and was thinking the implement tire may be too bouncy (taller sidewall, more "balloonish" too), but it would be nice to have the extra flotation/less compaction in the hay field. I have never ran anything but 3-rib tractor fronts before. Am I going to lose traction when turning, or other issues to think about? I use it mainly for moving manure and snow.

Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Thanks!

Brent: Personally I would go for diameter over width on loader tires. I've seen guys around here modify the front end of 60 hp row crops to take 20" truck tires, Then you have a loader tractor, front end rolls over obstacles much easier. They are quite good on front side traction as well.

I run 11.00X15 multirib implement recaps on my loader tractor. Much more floatation when the bucket is full. Steering in the field is accepable. (You brake steer when its real greasy anyway right?) Much less expensive to. Paid about $50 mounted.

On my loader tractor I used 900 X 15 four rib front tractor tires. I find they last longer than the 3 rib type.

The ribs on your front tractor tires are a great value in steering in field operations.

I do a lot of snowplowing and found that 4 rib implement tires are less prone to skidding while turning than 3 rib tractor tires. Mine are 8 ply and I also have a loader and I don't notice any "bouncing" at all.
