I have a brand new BX1800 and last year I put ag tires on it and rear blade to plow 300ft driveway. Well the front tires would slide with more than 3 inches of snow. So do I buy a loader for the front to plow, I do use this for cutting grass 90% of the time, or do I go out and buy a nice old tractor with a rear blade to plow?

rear blades suck, they hurt your neck and i cant get traction with my ford 2n in forward or reverse without loading the tires and putting chains on so i use a little 7hp ford garden tractor with a front blade, it pushes anything even 10 whole inches of snow! haha. good luck

A BX 1800 is an awfully small tractor to do any serious snow plowing. Something the size of an MF135; Ford 600; JD 2150. Put fluid in the tires, chains on the tires, Blade or pusher on the back. Do most of your pushing going backward. The reason I mentioned the tractors I did is that they are small enough to get around in tight places and you don't need a lot of space to store them. If space is not a problem then pull out all the stops and go for something really big. That way you'll be able to handle 20' drifts.

BX1800 is a baby tractor, it is not hardly big enough to do with what you want, I would probably get a bigger old tractor to do the job.

Turn the blade around to push instead of pull. Drive the tractor backwards and use it kind of like a bull dozer. Might work, I know have used one on my 135 Massey that way and it works good.
I'm not a fan of the kubota's so my first real deal would be to get Deere!!!!

Is your tractor 4x4 ? Also hang on some front end weights or try a front blade or snowblower.

You could cure the problem by putting a snow blower on the front, and chains on the back, that is if your rich enough! :>)

Sounds like a lack of weight and wrong front tire problem.

I have an Oliver 1650 with both a back blade, used for pushing snow, and loader for moving snow. I weighted the rears and put 4 rib implement tires on the front. The tractor weighs a little over 10k lb and pushes as much as 18" of snow around and never skids a front or rear.

You can use a loader for plowing but I don't. The box blade is much more efficient. With a heavier tractor and better tires, you should do as well as I do. A hint for snow plowing... keep just enough air in the tires to keep them up... a tire that's just a little soft has a bigger "footprint".
