I am trying to replace the oak rails(bearings)on the baler chute. When I tried to put the plunger back into the chute it went about 6 inches into the tracks that the plunger runs on and then it got stuck. I tried to pull it with a comealong but it still will not move. I made sure that the adjustments for the rails were set at their minimum.

I ended up greasing all the wood bearing rails on my 68 real good and then gently push it in with my tractor using a 4x6 timber and simultaneously pulling the plunger with a come-along with someone cranking on the other end. after it was all together I had to grease the rails again during break in to keep the boards from burning up. This was all done with the bearing adjustments all of the way out. I let it break in for about a half an hour stopping to grease it every ten or so minutes with the tractor idling before I attempted to put any hay into it. Once it broke in I was able to turn the flywheel by hand. The bales out of it this year were like it was a new baler. If there is an easier way I would sure like to hear about it. The only other option I could think of would to be shave the boards down a bit before installation.
