I AM LOOKING AT A 1970 MODEL 1020 DIESEL OR MAYBE 1520 TRACTOR IT IS A 3CYL. THE MOTOR NUMBER IS M43TL ,DOE'S THIS MEAN ITS A 43 HORSE POWER? HOW MANY HORSES DOES A 1970 1020 DIESEL HAVE? THE TRANSMISSION SN# IS 4H3C- 161878, IS THIS A SIX OR EIGHT SPEED TRANSMISSION . CAN ANY ONE TELL BY THE NUMBER? THE SER# CAN'T BE READ ON THE PLATE. I KNOW IT IS NOT A 2020 RIGHT? THEY R 4CYL. WHAT I HAVE BEEN TOLD OR DID JOHN DEERE MAKE A 3CY 2020?

the 1020 series are rock solid tractors. they bring high dollar in our area of virginia. we have fairly small fields that are ideal for the 38 hp 1020. $3900 for poor condition up to around 6000 for good shape.

1020 used the same engine as JD 350 dozer, in case there's one nearby to compare

Without a serial number or complete engine number,it will be hard to say. They both use a 3 cylinder,the 1020 is 39HP the 1520 is 46HP both are 8 speeds,they both had the option of a hi-lo planetary shift with the hi-lo shifter on the left side of the dash next to the steering wheel.The serial number should also be stamped on the frame under the tin plate.

WHAT WOULD A 1020 THAT NEEDS TIRES , RUNS, HAS NEW PAINT BE WORTH OR WHATS ITS VALUE. 1970 MODEL?
