AC WD or D15 Debate

I am looking to purchase a AC with a loader and have found a couple. My buddy says go with the D15 for $3400.00 w/loader and I am leaning towards a AC WD with trip bucket for $2000.00.

I have a small horse farm and would use the AC for scooping manure and pulling the spreader and moving snow in the winter.

What do you guys think?

Does the D-15 have power steering? hydraulic bucket? Both are big plusses. Does it pop out of gear (usually 3rd)when you accelerate then back off? Huge minus. Probably the WD does not have power steering. The D-15 has other advantages, but you will probably not use them for the jobs you describe. Resale will be higher for the D-15. WD's are good tractors, but they're a dime a dozen. I own 2 WD's and a D-17, that's my $.02.

The D-15 has power steering slips out of 3rd and has a trip bucket. Is worn and needs paint job.

Allis Chalmer WD tractor with front loader has a 6 volt system;everything works. Engine starts right up and runs strong, no smoke. Hydraulics work fine with no leaks. Good paint with new decals. Front tires like new. Back tires weather cracked but hold air with no leaks and about 30% thread. Working 2 point hitch & working PTO. PTO seal leaks some. All trans gears work. Sheet metal has some dents and dings but still in decent condition.

Either one could handle the jobs you describe. Both have a trip bucket, similar hydraulic systems, so if you want to convert either one to a more modern system with hydraulic bucket and independent hydraulics, the cost is about the same. Granted, the D14 is worth more, but so is the original cost higher. And that third gear repair means $$$$$$$$$$ and a tractor split. Resale value is immaterial- you are buying a tractor to use, not resell. Both of them are at the age where resale is about the value of what you pay now. The WD is ready to work, to renew the D14 to work, you'll likely spend a grand or so extra, depending how handy you are on repairs. For the price, I'd go with the WD.

I'd take the D-15 in a heart-beat! If it pops out of third (VERY common on D-14/15) run in second or fourth!
