I use stopup popper free edition from panic ware. You can download it for free off of sites such as pcmag.com, tucows.com, cnet.com etc. It works very well for me. I also use Zone Alarms for a firewall and McAfee for virus protection and am well satisfied with all of them.

Try this, it worked for me! It has a pop up killer
by the way, have you anything installed to combat spyware e.g. Ad-aware or Spyware blaster?

Get the google toolbar. It has a built in pop up blocker, which is very good

Hi Stan,

Never a pop-up on this website in 6yrs...

Do the Google Tool bar...greatest thing sinced sliced bread. I'm Glad the guys recomended it. Thanks!

Another great spyware program called "Spybot", rids ones puter of just about everything wrong that other puters set on yours.

If your using XP, use restore too reset your puter and clean out the trash.

Hi Van,

XP restore

is a tool that resets the puter registry file to a previous version that was saved/bookmarked.

Overview but read the help file;
So if you did a restore bookmark before installing software, then the software installed preforms poorly or makes your puter hang/glitch, then you restore to the bookmark (or reset the puter).

Restore then also would helpful too remove a virus that installs it's self in the registry. It will also restore a software glitch.

The restore tool is found in a folder
accessories/system tools/system restore

They have gotten so bad on my other machine, I came vary close to trashing it. However, I don't think it started with YT, my kids use AOL quite alot and since I've gone to using this machine I haven't noticed or have had any problems. 'Course, I added a couple of the Nortons blockers and that may have something to do with it. I have noticed that I get a bit of spam whenever I post the email address at this site and I'm slowly filtering out that garbage.

I didn't trash it, just came mighty close. After I calmed down a bit, I wiped the hard drive and started out fresh. At least the kids have their own machine for school and I can use mine for serious stuff (work and tractors). Thanks Ben.

It is Adware, Not a virus but very annoying.
It did not come from YT, You had to pick it from another site. Get a good popup blocker. Netscape 7.1 has built in blocker. Will use it before Internet Explorer, I have both installed since I am webmaster for a couple of different sites.

Never any popups on this site, but what can I do to stop my computer from occasionaly sending out random emails when it's off? They are returned as undeliverable because they may have a virus. The explanation is a page long and jiberish to me. I'm using XP and Adaware.
