Ive been locking for a case 530 backhoe for a while now and I found one, I want some advice on this guys asking price. The machine looks great, very clean, no leaks in the hydraulics. Hydraulic pump is strong. The backhoe works great. There are no welds. It is deisel, good engine. drives great. Breaks are almost gone, and the water pump is leaking. He wants $5800 for it. Is this worth it?

Caleb, I think that is the high end of pricing, 3500 to 4000 is the number for a typical 530. Water pump is low budget, brakes are a little salty . In 1968 a 530 was selling used for 4 to 5 k , ten years ago they were up to 5k to 5500 and now they are back down.

Thank you for the advice, much appreciated. I forgot to say that he raised the price from 5ooo originally to 5800 because he put a new clutch in it a couple weeks ago. Should that make a difference?

Caleb G I have two 530 TLB. Put clutch in one. 800 not a bad price for the job as parts for these old tractors are very steep. I would check for the scronizers in the forward and reverse. I replaced these in the other TLB. They cost more than the clutch. These are great units. Would not part with mine. Everett

Thank you for the reply, the tractor shifts from forward and reverse real good. does not slip out of gear, I hop this means that it will not need any more major work for a while. What are some warning signs that I should look for?
