Was wondering what has worked to keep birds out of a shed that has doors open all day long. They end up stuck in there when I close the doors and make a mess if you know what I mean. Can't have cats, and don't want plastic owls or snakes because they might only help short term. Is there any way you have found that works?

The suggestion of the mothballs is a good one. I've used them in a garage to deter birds from building nests on the door openers. Also had a woodpecker problem. Kept pecking holes in the wood on the back of the house. Kept boarding them over, plastic owls, and so on. They would just be back each year. This year I waited till they showed up and placed mothballs where they were working the wood, and they left. Haven't seen them there for a month now. I've used them on ledges to keep the birds from roosting and leaving thier mess, and various other locations. It will deter mice and other rodents as well. Throw a few around in your garden to deter lots of pests. A cheap and easy solution to a lot of pest problems. Just be aware of kids. Don't want them picking them up and maybe putting them in thier mouth. Little ones will try just about anything as we all know!

Get yourself some womens stockings.cut them off and put a handfull of moth balls in them, tie them in a knot and place them around the barn. You can hang them or set them up on ledges. This will definatly help keep bees away I am not positive how it will work on the birds but it is worth a try. This also works to keep bees out of vehicles that are sitting.
