I drove 100 miles to buy a used 13.6-38 Firestone field and road to replace old weatherd Goodyear tire. When I got home the 13.6-38 Safemark tire on my tractor (good tire)is over 2 inches taller than the Firestone. Do tires vary that much within same size or is it because its not mounted and aired up? Thanks for any thoughts.

Even across the Firestone line there is a significant differnce in size/shape between Traction Field & Road, All traction Fields & Road and those newest 23 degree bias tires they just introduced, what ever they are called. So in short, buy a matched pair. Looks better too.

Its always best to match tires on an axle , but yes , it will "grow" and round out some after it is mounted, and should come close to matching the other one.
