Crankcase should hold 11 quarts! (according to I & T shop service manual # JD - 10). There is a drain plug on the bottom of the Oil Pan that has a brass seal ring on it. The nut takes a large wrench (I think about 1 1/4 - 1 1/2" by memory). The oil change is more effective if You run the tractor for several minutes at a higher RPM to get the dirt mixed up in the oil, & drain it warm, or hot! I always refill the air cleaner while I am at it! The nut to remove the oil filter is located on the bottom close to the oil pan. It has a round protruding lid about 6" +/- across with a nut in the center. Be careful when removing!!! I cant tell You how many times it fell in a 5 gallon bucket, & splashed all over me! The filter popps straight down. The gasket will probably be stuck in the grove that the lid fits in!
