Would a 6 foot King Kutter rotary cutter be too much mower for a super c? I would be mowing fields that contains only heavy weeds, grass and fine grass.

I just pulled my heavy duty pull behind BUSH HOG brand behind my 200,in heavy fescue and weeds,no good, but in the places I had already cut,it did good but was a little straion on the engine just to turn it.

I mow vacant lots with a 6ft Woods pull type and a Farmall "B" which has been overhauled with increased bore kit. It may be overloaded this spring but late mowing went great.

Big difference between 5' and 6'. You'll find it miserably slow going for an extra foot cut and tractor will labor constantly.

Don, depending upon your terrain, you could probably make it work, but ya'd be movin' slow in 1st most of the time, why work it that hard?
With a 5 footer you'd move faster, probably cover as much ground if not more in the same amount of time, and save substantial wear and tear on your tractor. Having said that, remember, a Super C is one tough little sum b--ch! They will do anything a straigt H will, and there are alot of guys humpin' 6 footers around with straight H's, so... Ours does a wonderful job with a 5 footer! Pete

I have no experience with the Super C, but suspect that the 6' mower might be too much for the power of that tractor.

Super C has about the same engine size and HP as my Case VAC, and I use my VAC once in awhile with a 6' King Cutter. No problem. I usually use one of my bigger tractors, but sometimes the Case is nice since it has a gas engine is more quiet than my bigger diesels. Overriding clutch on the PTO is essential - but I have power enough for moderate brush cutting. Now, if you want to talk about the design of the King Cutter - that's another story! What a poorly designed piece-of-junk as compared to other mowers/cutters. Bought mine in a hurry last year at Tractor Supply Co. My 6' Brush Hog was temporarily broken - so I picked up the King Cutter. Came without a guard and throws scrap into the rear tractor tires. I got two flats the first week I used it. Finally made a chain guard for it. Then, I kept on breaking the top link and finally put a chain on instead. The chain lets it float a bit. Also found out this thing plows ground when backing up since it has no skids. I guess you get what you pay for. By the time I get done modifying this thing, I would of been better off paying more to start with.

JD,

King Kutter makes a heavy duty and a light duty. Sounds like you ended up with the little one.

You may be correct, but that's not what the dealer told me. I was told the mower was available with a heavier gearbox, but otherwise the higher priced mower would be the same. To be honest, I've been using Brush-hog type mowers for years and never had these kind of problems before - so I guess I assumed that they all had a certain level of "usability" designed into them. As far as what I've experienced, the King Cutter as sold to me MUST be modified to be used sucessfully.

Yeah, and a two week wait on parts. I'm into my thied week to replace the front shaft seal, (5-foot King Kutter) as the first set they sent was for the 4-foot model.

Thanks to all who responded. Maybe I better think of something other than the KingKutter in a 5 footer.
