I am trying to find plates for an old moline 2 row corn planter. I am kinda new to planting corn but it seems like today's corn is much smaller than in the past. Therefore, to much seed is being planted, I tried to find bigger corn but did not have much luck. Any suggestions on where to get parts for the moline or how to deal with the size of the plates. I am open to any suggestions.

Thanks for your help

i think we are in the same boat. i bought an old dearborn corn planter for $75 to plant sunflowers for a dove field. it came with a set of corn plates. i tried lincolnagproducts, ford agricultural dealerships, etc etc. the plates are obsolete. i was able to buy some on ebay, but took several months.

the corn plates would hold 4-6 sunflower seeds in each cell. so i filled them in with an epoxy putty that you can get at walmart (comes in a tube, you cut off the ends then knead the putty to mix it). then i used a dremel tool to make desired openings in the dried epoxy putty. it's not perfect but it's pretty close. it works for me.
