Fuel leakage around the shaft of the shut off valve on large tank sediment bowl. Small gas tank shut off is good. Snugged up the shaft retainer, but still leaks. Next I tried removing the shaft, but it does not appear to be removable. Is there a packing rope available that fits between the nut and the bowl around the shaft, or is there another way to seal it up? Thanks for the help.

Thanks to all that responded. The shaft does come out of the unit. It appeared to be stuck because of the aged rope packing. After backing shaft out to where it is clear of the treads, give it a good pull and it will come out. Went to Home Depot and purchased grafite rope packing and reinstalled. No leaks!

There is a graphited rope type packing designed for faucets,it is called stem packing and it works good. If it is too big you can seperate the strands, if too small, you can double it. Gene Davis

Tractor Supply near me has/had a sediment bowl that had two inlets on it,I think it was labeled for an AC.

I have used teflon tape as a quick fix at shows. Also dental floss has been used by many.

I have also used teflon stem packing thread. Works great, but a little harder to find than the graphite stuff.
