OR THE 4010 WITH THE DETROIT 318 V/8 OF BUZZY TIMMONS OF SENECA IL. THESE GUYS WERE ALL THE TALK AT TRACTOR PULLS BACK IN THE LATE 50'S AND THRU THE 60'S.

In my previous post , I forgot to mention that a few months back, there was a fellow on the Tractor Pulling site here, who posted a lot of photos of that era. Perhaps a post there will bring them back .

You bet I remember them. Ralph chamberlin, from Bucyrus Oh, had an allison in an oliver 1850 and called it the "Honker", and it did. The UBs were Bob Bend (?) and another fellow, from Shabbona (?) Il., maybe. I also remember the Bosse Bros from Ada, Oh. who ran a W-9 with four 460 lincolns. One of my favorites was the Bobb Bros from Crothersville(?) In. They could make orange tractors really do.

I surely do remember the Allison boys and Marshall Meyer. They pulled in the first tractor pull here in Ontario held at the International Plowing Match in 1971. During the seventies , they pulled several times at the pulls held at Nelles Corners and the Toronto Farm Show. When those Allisons pulled, it always brought a tear to my uncle's eye , as he had been an aircraft mechanic in the RCAF during the war and loved those engines. I remember seeing allisons in factory crates advertised for sale at $5000 American.
You could always count on Marshall Meyer to put on a real show, along with lots of smoke !! Sadly, I learned that he past away some twenty years ago.
